Maaaaan, B2K takes me BACK. I remember watching You Got Served and wishing I could be as cool as Omarion, one of the more recognized singers of B2K. Why B2K was in that movie in the first place? I have no idea, but the swagger both dance crews carried made them seem like superheroes (my cousins and I were so influenced by the film, we started coordinating our own choreography that same day… I was 8, alright).
Released in 2004, You Got Served was a drama film about a group of dancers which starred the R&B group, who also appeared on the film’s soundtrack. Staring in this movie and featuring on the soundtrack would be the apex to a very short career, as the group was only active from 2000 to 2004.
Just two albums were produced within that time frame and B2K ultimately fell apart due to internal differences.
Prior to their boy band break up, “Bump, Bump, Bump” rose from their second studio album Pandemonium! and also featured P. Diddy, enabling it to reach the top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and reached number one for one week starting on February 1, 2003. The music video was released in December 2002.
The album itself was released in 2002 and debuted at numbers three and ten on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Billboard 200 charts.
Aside from “Bump, Bump, Bump,” B2K is also known for three other singles: “Girlfriend”, “Bump That” and “What a Girl Wants”.
