REVIEW: Netflix’s Birdbox – take the bird back to the pet store

By now, you most likely have scrolled past dozens of #birdbox tweets. If you still haven’t got a chance to see this movie, I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as I possibly can.

I’m currently sitting here watching Netflix’s new thriller film Birdbox and I can’t help but feel some type of way, a love hate relationship if you will.

The movie stars Sandra Bullock as a mother of three and is basically traveling to somewhere she doesn’t seem to even know and can somehow traverse outrageous settings such as a river and forest while being blindfolded, which blows my mind.

Released on December 21st, 2018, this film stars Sarah Paulson, Rosa Salazar and Sandra Bullock.

The characters in the film try to avoid invisible “things” (it is never shown on screen), which act very similar to the basilisk from Harry Potter 2 and makes people commit suicide when you look at it – pretty much a sequel to M. Night Shyamalan’s 2008 film, The Happening.

While the acting is nominee worthy from Sandra Bullock and includes a good support cast from John Malkovich, Trevante Rhodes and Rosa Salazar, the story itself could have been written better. This woman seems to go from traumatized pregnant lady to Lara Croft in a matter of time.

I also hate the fact that MGK is in this movie. He’s a bad rapper and can’t act either so that knocked a few points off for me.

I’m not going to spoil the movie and tell you how it ends, but please watch it and let me know what you think.
