Thank You, Nick Foles

Thanks, Nick.

Today, you are officially no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, as you signed to be the starting quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars:

You deserve every cent and every opportunity, Nick.

While you’ll likely never don the Midnight Green again, you have had two of the best stints in Eagles and NFL history, and you deserve to be thanked.

Thanks for 27 and 2.

Thank you for lifting a 12-2 team from the ashes after Carson Wentz went down in 2017.

Thanks for the most magical playoff run most of us will ever see.

Thanks for vanquishing the dastardly Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to give the city its first Super Bowl, and getting revenge for ’04.

Thanks for taking less money and less opportunity to stay with the Eagles for another season, even after you led them to a Super Bowl title.

Thanks for returning to the bench so gracefully after Wentz returned from injury.

And thanks, again, for taking a team from the ashes to the playoffs and an improbable playoff victory.

I truly believe that the team was an Alshon Jeffrey non-tipped ball away from beating the New Orleans Saints and continuing the Foles’ saga into a second consecutive NFC Championship Game.

But, alas.

Not all stories have perfect endings.

Except the one Nick Foles gave us in Super Bowl LII.

Thanks, Nick.

And, good luck!
