I haven’t been this excited for a Call of Duty game since I waited in line for the midnight release of COD: MW2 in 2011. Those were the days.
As Call of Duty fans around the globe anticipate this latest entry in the series to really bring the franchise back to the greatness it once was, Infinity Ward has been doing a spectacular job of teasing fans on social media by announcing new game modes, new customization mechanics and slowly releasing multiplayer game play. Recently, Infinity Ward’s Animation Director, Mark Grigsby, sat down for an exclusive interview to talk about new animations regarding weapons.
“No one can touch these [animations],” says Grigsby.
He picks up a controller and begins to unload a few rounds of a pump shotgun into an open space. “Back in the day (referring to Modern Warfare 2‘s animations), we used to have real floaty and pretty animations. With this project, we wanted it more visceral, realistic, constantly in your face like ‘I’m in the thick of things with these weapons.'” You can check out the rest of the interview below. Boy, oh boy, little things like these get me PUMPED for this game.
Grigsby was the face and voice of the original Modern Warfare‘s Sgt. Griggs. He left the studio after Modern Warfare 2 to work on Titanfall and Titanfall 2.
